Jeans for Genes fashion panel…

16 Feb

The lovely people at the Jeans for Genes charity have set a competition for the students at London college of Fashion to design the official T-shirt for this years Jeans for Genes day. The T-shirt will be the official T-shirt, worn by all the celebrities, used for press and sold to help raise money for the charity.

This year, Jeans for Genes have asked the owner and designer of Monkee Genes, Phil Wildbore, to be one of the official judges for the competition and we think he sits pretty well along side denim guru Donna Ida and style icons Jaime Winstone and Coleen Rooney.

The competition has now closed and the winners are being picked, so a massive good luck to all of you who entered!! x

Mens Chino Look

6 Feb

The classic chino is now becoming a staple in most mens wardrobe to wear at any time of the year whether it be for smart or casual.

Here is an example of a casual winter look with the organic slim fit tobacco chino paired with grey desert boots, a simple white tee, patterned jumper, grey scarf and burgundy beanie hat. Perfect for the next couple of months and into Spring.

The only way is…Jamie..?!

So we had a lovely visitor in the office last week… Jamie Laing from Made in Chelsea.

It really was lovely to have him and his cheeky smile in the office! (And yes we made him pose like a convict to show his MG love)

Cut him some slack…LINE?

21 Nov

Slacklining  is a sport which has become very popular all over Europe but especially in Italy. It is basically tightrope walking with a cooler name and a bit more edge as the rope isn’t held so tight, so there is more bounce and stretch! Our Italian Monkee’s have been speaking with Lukas Huber who is an expert at the sport and also wears Monkee Genes!!

The interview has been translated from Italian, so bear with us on some of the translation…

Name and surname
Lukas Huber

age
17 years

So what is the slackline, how long have you been doing it and at what level do you practice?
The slackline is a rope stretched between two points on which you can walk. This sport is relatively new in Europe. It is practiced mostly in the climbing and skiing. Personally, I practice for about a year and a half, with good results and now at a professional level.

Can you tell us how you started in this sport?
I saw my friends, who have mounted a slackline in a park, so I tried it, but at first I did not like so much. Later I started to take a few steps, it fascinated me and so I started.

For some time participating in races has become a profession …
I am participating in competitions this year. For now is not a profession, because it is so popular, so I only practice as a hobby.

What is your favorite trick?
My favorites are the tricks like the backflip jumps (jump backwards) or frontflip (step forward).

Any particular music you listen to when you perform?
It is mainly electro music I perform to, but sometimes dubstep.

When will we see you on the slackline next?
Still … I train approx. 3 times a week … the next race which will take part and then the ISPO2012 World Championship.

(Good Luck Lukas!)

So I hope we have inspired you to find a slackline near you…

N.B please don’t try without a irresponsible adult present!
